Tens of millions of Americans suffer from back pain In fact, it’s one of the most common medical complaints and it’s a multi-billion dollar medical industry, that’s expected to keep growing. Sitting in chair for long periods of time, hunching over computer screen to type, and inactivity are some of the main causes, and since a huge majority of people have office jobs that combine all three causes, back pain is only supposed to grow ever more prevalent.
For many back pain is a chronic condition that they live with daily, kept at bay only with pain medicine. Many people are told it’s just a daily part of their lives due to their work… something they have to deal with… but what if it doesn’t have to be?
There are some biotech companies that think stem cells are the answer to back pain.
Stem cells are cells collected from bone marrow, embryos, or umbilical cord blood, that can be made to change into any other kind of cell: brain, blood, skin. They are often used to replace dead or diseased tissues.
Using Stem Cells for Relief
The field of stem cells is advancing in leaps and bounds. Biotech companies are working on using stem cells to help cure cancer, diabetes, and autoimmune diseases. These scientists are using stem cells for incredible medical advancements, like helping paralyzed stroke patients walk again, with one biotech company even trying to use stem cells to bring brain-dead patients back to life.
Now a new study from BioRestorative Therapies ($BRTX:PNK) shows that we might be able to use stem cells not only to help people who have terrible diseases, but also those who suffer from terrible back pain.
Patients in the study were injected with marrow-derived stem cells. These patients had lumbar degenerative disc disease; a kind of chronic back pain caused from bulging or protruding discs. The study showed that after six years the patients did not have any adverse affects from the procedure, and that the procedure produced favorable results for the patients who had suffered from back pain.
While the study was small, and needs to be conducted on a larger group of patients, BioRestorative Therapies found the results of the study very encouraging, and hope that they can soon put it to use for a larger audience.
Imagine getting to help millions of people with pain, back pain that can be so debilitating it causes billions of dollars each year in medical help and loss of productivity. Think about what would happen if you invested in one of these biotech companies right before they find a cure for back pain, cancer, or diabetes.
Not only will you be able to help people, but you’ll make a lot of money doing it. Seems like a good deal, right?
